Let’s talk Pokémon GO.

Pokémon have been released onto planet Earth. It’s your mission to ‘catch ‘em all’.

Pokémon GO is the game that has taken the world by storm.Your kids are probably talking non-stop about it. If they aren’t, you can still use Pokémon GO as a great way to beat the winter hibernation, avoid the couch and get outside this weekend.

The chances are that you played Pokémon as a kid, or at least you definitely knew someone who did. But, how do you catch the Pokémon now they’ve been released on Earth? And how is the game a great way to get off the couch and out of the house?

We’re here to demystify the basics and hopefully help you ‘Catch ‘Em All’!

Start by downloading Pokémon GO, which is available for iPhone and Android devices. Then, to search for and catch Pokémon, you’ll have to get out in the wild! That’s right, get on your feet and get outside as the game uses real-life locations for the setting. This means Pokémon GO is a great way to get your kids off the couch and outside, even if you just stay in your local area.

If you feel like being more adventurous, you’ll actually be rewarded for walking longer distances!

As you walk, you can add Pokémon Eggs to your Pokédex. The further you walk, the rarer the egg. Walk 2kms, you can expect a less-rare Pokémon like a Bulbasaur, Pidgey or Zubat. Walk 5-10kms and you’ll increase your chances of hatching a rare Pokémon, such as Dratini, Lapras or Chansey.

Why not pack a picnic and make a day of Pokémon hunting by venturing to a local bush trail, taking a long walk along the beach or visit a National Park?

Pokémon appear in areas like their native locations. This means you can expect to find water-based Pokémon near lakes, ponds, fountains or the ocean. For example, Hitmochan can be found in areas associated with exercise, while Electabuzz is in areas with high electricity usage.

You can visit PokéStops to top up on the essentials, like Poke balls. PokéStops are places like cafes, museums, monuments. While you’re there, you might as well top up your experience with a meal together or learning the history behind a monument!

Your smartphone will vibrate when there is a Pokémon nearby, so make sure you're "on the ball" ready to throw a Poké Ball before it gets away!

Plan an adventure and complete your mission with the kids this weekend. Get outside and catch’em all!
